Cassidy Secures $28 Million in Annual Appropriations Bills for Local Law Enforcement, Agricultural Research Center, More

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced he has secured $28,365,000.00 for Louisiana in the annual appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024. The funding includes $5 million for a new U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Sugarcane Research Facility in Houma, as well as $4.5 million to provide law enforcement with the equipment they need to keep our communities safe.

“Louisiana deserves a fair shake at getting the funding we need just like every state,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will be a difference maker for communities who have police working with decades-old equipment and students in the research lab alike.”

The bills will ultimately be part of a year-end funding package and will receive a Senate vote soon.
