WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will grant the Louisiana Department of Health $8,367,607 in Ryan White Title II Formula grants to fund HIV drugs and services for uninsured patients. The Ryan White Program provides a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, essential support services, and medications to improve health outcomes and reduce HIV transmission among hard-to-reach populations.
“As a doctor who has treated uninsured HIV patients, the need for greater access to treatment is obvious,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will give hospitals support to lowering the rate of HIV in Louisiana.”
