WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today voted to confirm Louisiana native Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court of the United States. The Senate advanced her nomination, and she is expected to be sworn in at a ceremony at the White House.
“Friends and relatives of Amy Coney Barrett in Metairie and across Louisiana are right to feel particularly proud at this moment. As a little girl who became a mature woman, she embraced the values of her faith, family and community and has risen to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court. These same values and traits should give us all a sense of pride and sense of gratitude that such a talented fellow American would choose to serve us all in such a role. Justice Barrett will be a great justice,” said Dr. Cassidy.
Barrett is a Metairie native who graduated from St. Mary Dominican High School. She is only the second person from Louisiana to serve on the Supreme Court.
