WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) this week announced the Department of Transportation (DOT) is awarding $11.4 million in federal grants to 19 different airports across Louisiana for general infrastructure improvements.
“Louisiana is receiving more than $11 million to improve our airports. This is huge. This funding will allow our airports to upgrade their infrastructure to better connect our state’s workers and travelers to the rest of the world.” said Dr. Cassidy.
Airports that will receive the grant money include:
$2.6 million will be used to construct 7,250 feet of taxiway pavement at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
$2 million will be used to install two passenger loading bridges in the terminal building for Lake Charles Regional Airport.
$2 million will be used to construct 5,000 feet of runway at the Minden Airport.
$700,000 will be used to rehabilitate 28,000 square yards of apron pavement for the Slidell Airport.
$552,819 will be used to construct a 550-foot taxiway for the Kelly-Dumas Airport in Oak Grove.
$500,400 will be used to remove tree obstructions at the Morehouse Memorial Airport in Bastrop.
$454,021 will be used to install 5,000 feet of drainage improvements for the Le Gros Memorial Airport in Crowley.
$398,000 will be used to seal 4,000 feet of runway pavement at the Leesville Airport.
$392,000 will be used to install a 11,000-foot long perimeter fence at the St. Landry Parish-Ahart Field Airport in Opelousas.
$356,700 will be used to seal 6,000 feet of runway pavement at the Jennings Airport.
$315,000 will be used to rebuild 2,260 feet of taxiway pavement at the Houma-Terrebonne Airport.
$247,500 will be used to rehabilitate 12,000 square yards of apron pavement at the Hart Airport in Many.
$165,000 will be used to reconstruct 1,300 feet of taxiway pavement at Natchitoches Regional Airport.
$150,000 will be used to remove non-hazard tree obstructions at the South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr Airport in Galliano.
$135,000 will be used to rehabilitate 3,998 feet of runway at the John H Hooks Jr Memorial Airport in Rayville.
$135,000 will be used to remove non-hazard tree obstructions at the Union Parish Airport in Farmerville.
$103,500 will be used to remove tree obstructions at the Jena Airport.
$72,000 will be used to rehabilitate the taxiway lighting system at the Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles.
$58,500 will be used to rehabilitate 12,000 square yards of apron pavement at the C E ‘Rusty’ Williams Airport in Mansfield.
