Cassidy Announces $2.6M for Louisiana Health Clinics

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced $2.6 million in federal funds to provide health care to underserved communities and vulnerable populations.

The grants, awarded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), will be distributed to four clinics in the state to expand access to affordable, accessible, quality and cost-effective primary health care services. Each clinic will receive $650,000.

Cassidy wrote multiple letters to HRSA Administrator George Sigounas advocating for awarding grant money to Louisiana.

“Everyone deserves access to quality health care. These grants expand access to Louisiana’s underserved communities and fill gaps in primary care needs,” said Dr. Cassidy.

 Clinics receiving funds are:

·         Baptist Community Health Services, Inc. in New Orleans

·         Plaquemines Parish Hospital Service District Number One in Port Sulphur

·         Teche Action Board in Franklin

·         Winn Community Health Center in Winnfield
