Cassidy Announces $300,000 Grant to Help Shreveport Regional Airport Attract Passengers

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), today announced the Shreveport Airport Authority and Ark-La-Tex Regional Air Service Alliance will receive a $300,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP).

Last month, Cassidy—along with Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) and U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA)—urged U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to approve Shreveport’s grant request. The grant will be used to attract air travelers to Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas to fill unused seats on new flights coming through the Shreveport Regional Airport.

“These resources will help Shreveport-Bossier residents by boosting the local economy and preserving new flight options at the Shreveport Regional Airport,” said Dr. Cassidy. “I thank Secretary Chao for approving our request and will continue working closely with local officials to ensure they have the resources they need to best serve the people of Northwest Louisiana.”
