WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) visited the Sasol petrochemical manufacturing complex in Westlake, Louisiana, today to discuss jobs and economic development.
“Sasol is creating thousands of jobs in Southwest Louisiana,” said Cassidy following the visit. “These are great jobs for Americans, better wages, better benefits. We need more of them and they’re providing them.”
“This project is going to significantly increase their output,” Cassidy continued. “It means lots of jobs. It means jobs for the future, because this is not just a project for four weeks or four months, but for years to come.”
According to Sasol, its ethane cracker and derivatives project “will roughly triple the company’s chemical production capacity in the U.S.” and “create more than 500 full-time, high-paying manufacturing jobs, more than 5,000 construction jobs at peak and thousands of indirect jobs in Louisiana and across the U.S.”
