WASHINGTON— US Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA) released the following statement on the US Senate’s votes on legislation to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists:
“The difference in the Senate bills considered today was that there was due process built into Senator Cornyn’s bill on the front end, but it was not built into Senator Collin’s bill. If we begin taking away constitutional rights from law-abiding citizens, terrorism wins.”
Dr. Cassidy voted in support of Senator Johnson’s bill. On Monday, Dr. Cassidy similarly voted in support of conservative Senators Cornyn and Grassley’s amendments, which respected the second amendment and due process. |
