WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced more than $7 million in Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation grants for hurricane recovery efforts in Louisiana. FEMA will award the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) $6,185,028.72 for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts, and Jefferson Parish will receive $1,261,861.43 to account for a water distribution system that was damaged during Hurricane Isaac.

Dr. Cassidy is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.

Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

“Louisiana families are still building back from the damage of Hurricanes Katrina and Isaac. There is still a lot of work to be done, but ensuring we have the proper resources and funding to continue strengthening our communities and better prepare for any future storm is a priority.”
