Cassidy Votes to Confirm Judicial Nominees for Louisiana Federal Courts

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today voted on the judicial nominations of Jerry Edwards Jr. to the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana and Brandon Long to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Edwards was confirmed by a vote of 66-24 and Long was confirmed by a vote of 64-22. 

“I was glad to support both Mr. Edwards and Mr. Long. They each have the experience, qualifications, and knowledge of the law to rule fairly and consistently,” said Dr. Cassidy. “I wish them the best as they begin this new chapter dedicated to serving Louisiana and the country. ”

Edwards currently serves as the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District, serving as the chief of the Civil Division until March 2022. Long currently serves as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District in New Orleans. 

Edwards will serve in Alexandria and Long will serve in New Orleans when they take their seats on the bench.
