WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) issued the following statement on his vote in support of a bill to avert a government shutdown by extending the funding deadlines to March.
“We need to fix the border and prevent the flood insurance program from lapsing. This extension allows us to do both for the time being while giving us more time to find permanent solutions,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Homeowners should not pay the price for Congress failing to get its act together.”
The bill now heads to the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.
