WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $206 million in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Flood Mitigation Assistance program, the second most of any other state. The funding from Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) supports 31 projects to elevate flood-prone homes to reduce future damage and minimize flood insurance claims in Louisiana.
“In the aftermath of Hurricane Francine, this funding from the infrastructure law is welcome relief to recover from past disasters and prepare for the future,” said Dr. Cassidy. “By having a seat at the table, Louisiana is punching far above its weight in the amount of money we are receiving to eliminate the risk of flooding.”
