WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant Louisiana a total of $1,651,340.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for road safety infrastructure projects.
“Enhancing the quality of life for Louisianans was a top priority when writing the Infrastructure Law,” said Dr. Cassidy. “By addressing road safety, we’re creating a safer environment for families who rely on these roads now and in the years to come.”

$400,000.00 | Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury | This grant will provide federal funding to develop a comprehensive safety action plan for Elton, Fenton, Jennings, Welsh, and Lake Arthur parishes. |
$360,000.00 | City of New Orleans | This grant will provide federal funding to reduce the number of nighttime fatal crashes in the city through a comprehensive lighting plan that addresses the challenges facing the deployment, operations, and maintenance of roadway lighting. |
$240,000.00 | Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana | This grant will provide federal funding to prepare a new comprehensive safety action plan for the Chitimacha Reservation and the roadways leading to the reservation. |
$200,640.00 | Delta Economic Research & Sustainability District | This grant will provide federal funding to develop a comprehensive safety action plan. |
$160,000.00 | City of Abbeville | This grant will provide federal funding to perform demonstration activities and extensive engagement to further inform the development of a bicycle- and pedestrian-focused corridor plan. |
$150,000.00 | Downtown Development District of New Orleans | This grant will provide federal funding to conduct supplemental planning efforts that leverage and build upon the citywide comprehensive safety action plan, providing enhanced safety and network analysis, and expanding public engagement opportunities. |
$80,000.00 | City of Winnfield | This grant will provide federal funding to enhance safe streets and reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries. |
$60,700.00 | Town of Welsh | This grant will provide federal funding to develop a comprehensive safety action plan to improve the roads and sidewalks. |
