WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is expected to grant Louisiana a total of $12,800,000.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The Louisiana Public Health Institute will receive $5 million to improve telehealth capabilities and the Al Copeland Foundation will receive $7.8 million for cancer research.
“Infrastructure is about building the best resources for families living in Louisiana. That includes health infrastructure,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This will make our communities healthier.”
The Al Copeland Foundation will use the funding to increase access to cancer screening and clinical trials by leveraging digital technology to integrate these services at under-resourced hospitals and clinics. The funding will also support LSU’s LCMC Cancer Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
