Description:

This grant will fund the elevation and reconstruction of severe repetitive loss (SRL) structures in Jefferson Parish.  Amendment 5 will fund the elevation of 69 and the mitigation reconstruction of 14 SRL structures in Jefferson Parish. Elevation and reconstruction of these structures will result in an incremental improvement in flood-resistant housing and significantly reduce the future potential of those structures to sustain flood damage.  Given the high concentration of SRL properties in this parish, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has allocated additional funds to address these structures, and the parish will utilize all available funds to mitigate SRL properties benefiting both the property owners and National Flood Insurance Program.  Previously, federal funds were awarded for the elevation of SRL properties under this project:  $5,782,424 on 12/14/2010 for 15 structures; $2,063,418 on 3/5/2014 for 16 structures; and $8,327,531 on 11/3/2014 for 72 structures.  The total federal share for this project with this award will be $23,913,714.  This award is pursuant to the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, Section 404, and 44 CFR Part 206.434. BCR: Cost effectiveness was determined utilizing the pre-calculated benefits in SFHA memorandum. Activity Type: Elevation and Reconstruction.
