Cassidy Assesses Hurricane Recovery Efforts in U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico

Yesterday and today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) joined other members of Congress and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in visiting the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico to assess hurricane damage and the ongoing recovery efforts.

“Local officials, FEMA and the Trump Administration have made good progress on relief and recovery efforts, but there is still more left to do,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Following similar disasters, Louisiana has experienced the generosity of others, and we are prepared to show the same to our fellow Americans. In the days ahead, Congress will help ensure the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have the resources they need to fully recover.”

On Sunday, the delegation visited the Knud Hansen Hospital and the Schneider Medical Center in the U.S. Virgin Islands. On Monday, the delegation visited the Joint Field Office in Puerto Rico, received several briefings in San Juan on recovery efforts, and surveyed damage on the island by helicopter.
