WASHINGTON– U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) and John Kennedy (R-LA) will introduce a resolution to the United States Senate recognizing and congratulating the Eastbank Little League baseball team from River Ridge for winning the Little League World Series (LLWS). It is the first team from Louisiana to win the LLWS title after defeating Curacao 8-0 in Sunday’s championship game.
“Facing elimination after an opening loss, these young men from River Ridge never gave up and battled their way to the championship. Now, they stand atop the rest of the world. Theirs is an inspirational story that deserves to be celebrated both in Louisiana and across our country. They have achieved something truly remarkable, and this resolution will highlight their accomplishment to the entire nation,” said Dr. Cassidy.
“The River Ridge Little League baseball team is really something special. These boys demonstrated a high level of sportsmanship and athleticism throughout the entire world series,” said Sen. Kennedy. “In the end, they brought home a Little League World Championship to Louisiana for the first time in history! They deserve to be showered in awards and accolades. In that spirit, I am happy to cosponsor this Senate resolution to congratulate this amazing championship team.”

Congratulating the Eastbank Little League team on their victory in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series.
Whereas, on Sunday, August 25, 2019, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the Eastbank Little League team won the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series by a score of 8 to 0, defeating the Pabao Little League team from Cura ?cao;
Whereas the victory of the Eastbank Little League team in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series—
(1) earned the team their first Little League Base- ball World Series title; and
(2) is the first Little League Baseball World Series title for the State of Louisiana;
Whereas, only one day before their Little League Baseball World Series victory, the Eastbank Little League team defeated the team from Hawaii by a score of 9 to 5, be- coming the first team from Louisiana to win the United States title in the Little League Baseball World Series;
Whereas the entire Eastbank Little League team contributed to the victory, including Egan Prather, Reece Roussel, Marshall Louque, William Andrade, Gavin Berry, Jeffrey Curtis, Ryan Darrah, Derek DeLatte, Connor Perrot, Ryder Planchard, Alton Shorts, Peyton Spadoni, and Stan Wiltz; and
Whereas coaches Scott Frazier, Kevin Johnson, and Donald Abadie led the team to victory: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the Senate congratulates the Eastbank Little League team and their fans on the victory of the team in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series on August 25, 2019.
