WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), and John Kennedy (R-LA) today applauded President Trump’s nomination of Scott Patrick Illing to serve as the U.S. marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
“With his knowledge and experience, Scott Patrick Illing is a well-qualified choice for this role and I look forward to supporting him,” said Dr. Cassidy.
“President Trump is working diligently with us to ensure that Louisiana is served by qualified individuals. Mr. Illing has a lengthy law enforcement background that includes work for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,” said Sen. Kennedy. “The Eastern District is one of the oldest districts in the U.S. It has evolved from stopping pirates’ smuggling operations to conducting search and rescue missions in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Today, the U.S. Marshal’s Office in the Eastern District apprehends nearly 1,000 violent offenders a year. We need qualified leaders to ensure the public’s safety, and I know Mr. Illing will serve the District well.”
Scott Illing is a retired Supervisory Special Agent, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). He began his law enforcement career in 1983 with the Louisiana State Police. Mr. Illing served as a State Trooper until 1988, when he joined the U.S. Customs Service Office of Investigations as a Special Agent in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served as a Senior Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent, retiring in 2015 following 27 years of service with HSI and the U.S. Customs Service. Mr. Illing earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Louisiana University.
