Cassidy: Mayor Landrieu Missed an Opportunity to Advocate for Louisiana

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), released the following statement after New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu refused to attend a meeting at the White House about improving our nation’s infrastructure, a decision he made in solidarity with sanctuary cities like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco:

“Mayor Landrieu skipped a meeting with President Trump about infrastructure because the Department of Justice is holding sanctuary cites in other states accountable. Louisiana has huge infrastructure needs, including SELA drainage projects, dredging the Mississippi River, and repairing roads and bridges. To get federal help, Louisiana must build relationships and advocate with one voice. By skipping today’s infrastructure meeting at the White House, Mayor Landrieu missed an opportunity to advocate for New Orleans and Louisiana, hurting our efforts.”
