WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement applauding the Trump administration’s success in securing a new trilateral trade deal with Canada and Mexico.
“I applaud the president for standing up for American workers,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Louisiana is home to five of the top 15 U.S. ports by tonnage, making Louisiana essential in exporting American goods around the world. Securing this deal is a major victory for Louisiana’s economy and workers. I thank Mexico and Canada for working with us to secure a more fair and beneficial trade deal for all.”
Cassidy recently conducted meetings with foreign heads of state and senior government officials in Mexico and Guatemala focused on trade as well as strengthening border security, fighting drug trafficking, improving trade, and creating Louisiana jobs.
