BATON ROUGE – Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) joined Louisiana Right to Life to rally support for the unborn. He spoke at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on his support for the pro-life cause.
“Despite the rain and the cold, people came with a spirit of hope for the unborn child, and their mother. We must provide that mother with the love and support she needs,” said Dr. Cassidy. “That will win hearts and minds.”
Last May, Cassidy voted against the Democrats’ radical Abortion on Demand Until Birth bill. If passed, the bill would have banned popular state laws placing reasonable limitations on abortion. He also praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and voted to confirm conservative Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
Cassidy supports providing new mothers the help they need to raise a child. His Pregnant Workers’ Fairness Act, which ensures working mothers have reasonable workplace accommodations when pregnant, was signed into law late last year.
Cassidy was welcomed to the event by Mr. Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life.
“Senator Cassidy has been a champion for the unborn in Congress,” said Mr. Clapper. “His votes to approve conservative judges and reject abortion-on-demand has made an enormous difference. Likewise, his recent work to help pregnant mothers shows what the pro-life movement is all about. We are proud to support Senator Cassidy and look forward to working with him in the future.
