Metairie – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today toured the Bristow Group’s heliport in Houma and visited Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport.
“Louisiana leads the nation in boat building and helicopter support for the offshore industry. We need to build on the talent of these craftsmen and this skill set,” said Dr. Cassidy.
At the Bristow Group’s heliport in Houma, Cassidy received a tour and learned more about how Bristow provides crucial air transportation to ensure workers can get to where they’re needed in the region.
“We are honored that Senator Cassidy spent time touring our facilities and meeting with some of the 177 employees supporting our Houma base,” said Mr. Chris Bradshaw, President and CEO of Bristow. “I thank Senator Cassidy for his support and recognition of the important role that Bristow plays to support the U.S. and Louisiana economy. Bristow’s Louisiana operations flew approximately 120,000 passengers, and performed 641 medevac missions in 2020 and accounted for nearly 600 local, highly-skilled jobs in the State of Louisiana through our offshore energy operations.
Additionally, at Bollinger Shipyards, Cassidy was briefed on the company’s latest projects and how they’re supporting the local economy.
“We greatly appreciate Senator Cassidy’s leadership in Washington and making sure Louisiana continues to have a strong voice at the table,” said Mr. Ben Bordelon, President and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards. “The Fast Response Cutter program is something we’re all proud of here in Louisiana. Since its inception, Senator Cassidy has been a leader amongst the bipartisan coalition that year-after-year fights for the success of the FRC program. We look forward to partnering with him to ensure the continuation of this critical program and to protect the more than 600 jobs that rely on it.”
