WASHINGTON— US Senator Bill Cassidy, US Senator David Vitter and US Representative Charles Boustany, Jr. released the following statements on the groundbreaking of a new, permanent Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Members of Congress have been pushing for permanent clinics in Southwest Louisiana since 2009. “There are more than 23,000 veterans in Southwest Louisiana who have been waiting more than a decade for the Lake Charles VA clinic to be built. Today’s groundbreaking is good news, but we have to continue working together to oversee its construction. I look forward to the day the clinic opens its doors and starts seeing patients— all veterans must have access to quality health care,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This is a momentous day. After years of hard work, veterans in Southwest Louisiana will finally have access to quality healthcare services right in their local community,” said Sen. Vitter. “While I am glad to see the long-awaited groundbreaking of the Lake Charles VA clinic, there is still work to be done.
