WASHINGTON— Today, U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. and David Vitter announced that the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will receive more than $21 million and the Acadiana Regional Airport will receive more than $2 million in federal grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “These grants will improve the safety and efficiency of our airports—a win for passengers and workers,”said Dr. Cassidy. “Our airports connect Louisiana products and families to the rest of the world. A strong infrastructure means more trade, more tourism and more opportunities for Louisiana.” “Investing in our transportation infrastructure means travel options will improve and Louisianians will be safer as they travel. I’m glad to see the New Orleans International Airport and the Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia awarded these important grants that will certainly go toward growing these important hubs, boosting our local economies, and creating jobs,” said Vitter.
The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International airport will receive $15 million in funding for phase 3 of the apron construction project, specifically for the pumping station that is required to handle changes in drainage from the relocated terminal apron. The airport will also receive $6,680,140 for construction to support the relocated terminal complex. The Acadiana Regional Airport will receive $2,084,283 million to rehabilitate and re-seal 8,000 feet of runway to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris. ### |
