WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released a statement following his vote to pass legislation sponsored by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to sanction the Russian Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline in Europe.
“Why is President Biden helping Russia develop this pipeline as they threaten to invade our ally, Ukraine? He would rather Europeans buy Russian natural gas through Nord Stream 2 than Louisiana natural gas,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Shipping cleaner American natural gas is better for Louisiana jobs, United States national security and prevents European dependence on Russia.”
