WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will grant Louisiana airports $10,500,000.00 from the Airport Terminal Program in his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
“Airports are a key part of economic growth,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding from the Infrastructure Law for New Orleans, Shreveport, and South Lafourche will improve the airports and bring new opportunities to Louisiana communities.”

$7,000,000.00 | Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) | This grant provides federal funding for the construction of the foundation for the North/South Connector Road’s north phase. The new road will directly connecting passengers between the airport’s North and South terminals and will link the terminals to the airport’s upcoming multimodal transit facility that will provide passenger rail service. |
$2,000,000.00 | Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) | This grant provides federal funding for the construction of approximately 5,000 square feet of new terminal gate. The new floor space will expand passenger hold areas to accommodate recently up-gauged aircraft. |
$1,500,000.00 | South Lafourche Leonard Miller, Jr. Airport (GAO) | This grant provides federal funding for the construction of eligible areas for the airport’s new terminal building, which will meet existing demand and is needed to assure operational sustainability. It will be constructed to hurricane resistant standards and include air service facilities. |
