Cassidy Announces $2.2 Million for Pipeline Safety, Natural Gas Storage

 WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant Louisiana Department of Natural Resources $2,246,467.00 in Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) FY 2023 State Base Pipeline Safety and FY 2023 Underground Natural Gas Storage grants.

“Pipelines are critical to carrying the energy we need to power our lives,”said Dr. Cassidy.“This funding will help to ensure that our infrastructure is running as safely and effectivity as possible.”

Background

PHMSA’s grant programs reimburse up to 80 percent of the operating costs for state programs charged with inspecting transmissions, distribution pipelines, and underground storage facilities within state boundaries.
