Cassidy Announces $2.7 Million for Louisiana Workforce Commission Following Hurricane Laura Relief Efforts

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding nearly $2.7 million in federal funding to the Louisiana Workforce Commission for reimbursements following the Commission’s emergency response efforts during Hurricane Laura.

“Our entire state was impacted by Hurricane Laura. The Louisiana Workforce Commission helped organize the emergency response to assist disaster victims. This funding ensures the Commission is properly compensated for its support during the storm,” said Dr. Cassidy.

The Commission will receive $$2,686,619.83 from FEMA for implementing force account labor and contract services throughout the duration of the storm. The Commission provided staff to establish the state’s Emergency Operations Center in Baton Rouge, and staff also served meals, supplies and commodities to displaced evacuees all across Louisiana.
