Cassidy Announces $3.3 Million for Louisiana for Economic Development

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $3.3 million from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) for economic development in South Louisiana.

The Chennault International Airport Authority in Lake Charles will receive $2.5 million for expansion of the airport’s fire suppression capacity to support business growth. The project will be matched with $2.3 million in local funds and is expected to create and retain more than 1,200 jobs and generate $5.9 million in private investment. Senator Cassidy wrote a letter of support for the project. Thrive New Orleans will receive $750,000 to support workforce training and infrastructure solution development. The project will be matched with $187,500 in local funds and is expected to create more than 1,100 jobs and generate $250 million in private investment.

“By investing in Louisiana’s infrastructure and businesses, we are building an economy for 2050,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will create jobs and make the New Orleans and Lake Charles communities a place for families to thrive and attractive for investment.”
