WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will grant the State of Louisiana a total of $3,495,473.00 to fund a regional gauge system to monitor flooding and rainfall from natural disasters. The system would give officials in coastal parishes real-time data on flood risks and allow residents more time to evacuate.
“Storm flooding continues to devastate communities across South Louisiana,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will allow crucial data to give residents time to evacuate themselves and their loved ones.”
