WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the city of New Orleans will receive about $3.7 million in grants from the Department of Transportation to fund upgrades to the water and electrical systems in the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The grant is part of the Federal-State Partnership for the State of Good Repair Program that helps improve rail infrastructure in urban areas.
“Solid infrastructure is the base of a strong economy. I thank the Department of Transportation for recognizing the need for upgrades to urban rail infrastructure,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This money will boost the economy and make passenger travel smoother in New Orleans and beyond.”
