WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will grant the City of Baton Rouge $1,487,305 and the City of New Orleans $2,494,803 in Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program grants to fund emergency HIV relief. The Ryan White Program provides a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, essential support services, and medications to improve health outcomes and reduce HIV transmission among hard-to-reach populations.
“As a doctor treating uninsured HIV patients, you see the effects that HIV has on a community,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding is crucial to reducing HIV infection in our state.”
