WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced that Louisiana will receive a total of $43,845,000 from his bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for fiscal year 2022. Specifically, this grant will replace 111 existing buses in school districts across Louisiana with newer, better quality models. Louisiana is expected to receive IIJA funding for school buses over the next 4 years.
“A new fleet of school buses gives parents the peace of mind that their children have safe, reliable transportation to school,” said Dr. Cassidy. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues delivering for Louisiana communities.”
Louisiana is receiving 4.5% of total IIJA funding this year for school buses, more than triple the state’s population percentage.
