WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Department of Health and Human Services is awarding $5.4 million to fund early childhood education programs in St. Martin Parish and mental health research at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette(UL-Lafayette).
“Louisiana’s youth are the future of our state, and this funding invests in our children’s education as well as their mental health over the next generation,” said Dr. Cassidy.
The St. Martin Parish School Board is receiving $4,568,352 to support its Head Start and Early Head Start programs. UL-Lafayette is receiving $875,438 for a mental health research project on the identification of SIV replication and reservoirs in the central nervous system.
