Cassidy Announces $6 Million for Lafayette, Leesville Airports

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced that the airports in Lafayette and Leesville are receiving a combined $6 million in grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“Construction projects at the Lafayette and Leesville airports improve their ability to meet passenger and freight needs. This federal funding invests in Louisiana’s economic future,” said Dr. Cassidy.

The Lafayette Regional Airport is receiving $5.5 million to construct a 100,000 square foot terminal building. The grant funds the final phase of the project, which consists of terminal construction and a 4,000 square yard apron expansion.

Leesville is receiving $548,000 to build a 275 square foot taxiway on north and south ends to eliminate the need for aircraft to back-taxi on the runway. This grant funds the final phase, which consists of construction.
