WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation will provide a $10 million grant to the Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District through funding from Cassidy’s bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Specifically, the funding from the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) will expand the Port of Morgan City’s dock.
“An expanded port will create jobs and economic opportunities in Morgan City,” said Dr. Cassidy. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill continues to benefit Louisiana, supporting our way of life through needed investments.”
Background:
This funding supports the expansion of the Port of Morgan City’s dock by adding approximately 1.6 acres of concrete laydown area and building an additional 8,880-square-foot wharf-relieving platform structure to support a 440’ x 40’ wharf extension. The project complements “Phase 3A” that was funded by the port and the State of Louisiana and completes all phases of the port’s “Western Dock Expansion” project.
