WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. released the following statement after the Obama Administration issued a rule today to regulate hydraulic fracturing on federal and American Indian lands:
“Millions of jobs have been created because of hydraulic fracturing—thousands in Louisiana alone because of the Haynesville Shale. More regulations will hinder production and hurt these jobs, making the goal of creating American energy independence even harder to achieve. The administration should be focused on production, not regulation.
Dr. Cassidy cosponsored the Fracturing Regulations are Effective in State Hands (FRESH) Act of 2015. The FRESH Act, introduced by Sen. Jim Inhofe, would clarify that states have the sole authority to regulate hydraulic fracturing on all land within the boundaries of the states.
