WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) issued the following statement on his vote to avert a government shutdown:
“My priorities remain the same. I want to secure the border and reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This solution is not perfect, but it gives us more time to find permanent answers, provides a paycheck for our troops, and keeps the government open.”
After overwhelming support in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate followed suit and funded the government for 45 days.
