WASHINGTON—U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), and John Kennedy (R-LA) today applauded President Trump’s nomination of James D. Cain Jr. to serve as a U.S. district judge for the Western District of Louisiana (Lake Charles).
“The people of Louisiana have been without a district judge in Lake Charles for more than a year,” said Dr. Cassidy. “I thank President Trump for nominating an experienced attorney like Mr. Cain to fill this vacancy and I look forward to the Senate considering his nomination soon.”

Cain, a Louisiana native born in DeRidder, lives in Lake Charles and is a founding member and partner of Loftin, Cain & LeBlanc, LLC. He has extensive courtroom experience, having practiced for 24 years in federal and state courts. Cain earned his B.A. from McNeese State University and his J.D. from Southern University Law Center, where he graduated cum laude. Before joining Lundy Davis, LLC after law school, Cain clerked for Judge Henry Yelverton on the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
