Cassidy to Join President Trump in Welcoming President of France Emmanuel Macron

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), released the following statement regarding French President Emmanuel Macron’s upcoming visit to Washington, D.C.

“France was America’s most important ally in our struggle for independence, and the United States was France’s most important ally in two world wars preserving their freedom,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Laura and I look forward to celebrating our countries’ shared history and strong bond—as well as Louisiana’s cultural ties with France—as we welcome President Macron to the United States.”

Cassidy and his wife Laura plan to attend the arrival ceremony honoring President Macron and his wife Brigitte at the White House Tuesday morning, and the official state dinner at the White House Tuesday evening. Senator Cassidy will also attend the Tuesday State Department luncheon hosted by Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence.
