Cassidy Visits Small Businesses in Livingston Parish

BATON ROUGE  This morning, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) visited Cain’s Family Market and Metal Fab Guys in Livingston Parish, to learn how they serve their community and what they need to succeed in today’s economy.

“Cain’s grocery store has a wonderful farmers market where their vendors sell farm-to-table goods. And Metal Fab Guys’ craftsmen produce sturdy, customized metal products for industry and small businesses,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Between their skilled workers and entrepreneurs, and better roads and broadband thanks to the infrastructure bill, Livingston Parish is charging forward.”

Established in 1983 by Carter and Edna Cain in a 6,000-square-foot building in Denham Springs, Cain’s began selling groceries, gas, and hardware in Livingston Parish. They have three different locations in the parish and employ around 200 people. Meanwhile, Metal Fab Guys’ team makes customized metal products for industrial companies and businesses in the surrounding region. They are based in Walker and have 11 employees.

Cassidy visited the Cain’s location in the Town of Livingston, where their bi-monthly, indoor farmer’s market took place. He greeted vendors, customers, and Cain’s employees, and talked with them about their needs and concerns. Later, he visited Metal Fab Guys’ headquarters with Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte in Walker. He was given a tour of the company and watched how they produce their products. At both locations, he was welcomed by company executives.

“Our indoor market provides guests with farm-to-table products,” said Mr. Stan Cain, co-owner of Cain’s Family Market. “Cain’s and our partners try to provide healthier products to our guests. In our time with Senator Cassidy, we were able to discuss the cost of credit card fees that are passed onto our guests. Additionally, we talked about fair purchasing compared to larger chain retailers.”

“This morning, Metal Fab Guys was pleased to welcome United States Senator Bill Cassidy to our Walker, Louisiana facility,” said Mr. “Chez” Ciccone, Vice President of Sales for Metal Fab Guys. “We sincerely appreciate his interest in our company and his desire for our success! Senator Cassidy was fascinated to learn that Metal Fab Guys is a leading provider of sheet metal fabrication, tubular laser cutting, welding, powder coating, precision forming and UV printing services. He was impressed to know that no other facility in the entirety of Louisiana has all of the state-of-the-art equipment that we have.”

Ciccone added, “we demonstrated how our technologically advanced lasers can reduce a 50-hour manual job, down to just a few hours. The Senator also enjoyed learning that in addition to our industrial applications, Metal Fab Guys is a premier destination for metalwork. We have made numerous business signs and logos for companies, neighborhoods, storage racks, and containers for company vehicles. We thank Senator Cassidy for showing an interest in our company and for taking the time to tour offices and shop.”
