Cassidy Votes to Cut Wasteful Spending

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement after the Senate failed to advance legislation (H.R. 3) to cut $15 billion in previously passed, unneeded spending.

The bill failed by a vote of 48-50, with all Senate Democrats opposing the bill.

“Washington spends too much and is running up the national debt,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Unfortunately, not a single Democrat joined us in this effort to recover unspent dollars from previous years. Saving taxpayers money should not be a partisan issue.”
