Cassidy Votes to Defend Life

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. released a video message after voting for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortion after 20 weeks.

Watch the video here and read his message below:

“Hello. I’m Louisiana’s Senator, Dr. Bill Cassidy. Proud to be Senator for the most pro-life state.

“Every life is precious, and we must keep working to protect every unborn life. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is a step in this direction.

“This legislation protects life by banning abortions after 20 weeks, the point at which an unborn child feels pain.

“The United States is one of only seven countries in the world allowing abortion past 20 weeks, putting ourselves on the same list as North Korea.

“This is incredibly important in light of the Planned Parenthood videos, which have reshaped the national conversation on abortion.

“It’s disturbing to hear a Planned Parenthood official referring to an unborn child as a ‘blob of tissue.’ A baby—which at 20 weeks you can see their fingers, toes, hear their heartbeat—is seen in their eyes as a blob.

“Doctors are taught to ‘first, do no harm.’ After watching the Planned Parenthood videos, it is evident there are those who do not agree with, ‘first, do no harm’ – putting an exclamation mark on the need for this legislation.

“Even in the contentious issue of abortion, we should be able to agree that protecting children from pain is the right thing to do.

“Louisiana has always led the way in the fight to protect life, and I will continue to do so as your United States Senator.

“Thank you.”
