MEDIA ADVISORY: U.S. Sens. Cassidy, Vitter & Reps. Abraham, Fleming To Host Service Academy Day in Alexendria

ALEXANDRIA — The offices of U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., Senator David Vitter, Representative Ralph Abraham and Representative John Fleming will host Service Academy Day on Saturday, September 26, 2015. The Congressmen have invited representatives from the Military, Air Force, Naval, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard Academies to participate. Representatives will be on hand to explain the nomination process to potential applicants and the requirements for applying to each academy.

“America’s Service Academies offer students a world-class education and the opportunity to be a commissioned officer in the United States Military. Our aim is to connect dedicated young people in Louisiana with these opportunities, and in doing so, to contribute to our nation’s defense,” said Sen. Cassidy.

“Academy Day is an excellent opportunity for students and their families to learn more about our nation’s military academies, where many of our future leaders are trained. I’m proud to host this Academy Day with my colleagues, Senator Cassidy and Representatives Abraham and Fleming in Alexandria,” said Sen. Vitter.

“I applaud our young men and women who have answered the call to serve.  This is an exciting time in their lives, and Academy Day will help them get the information they need to make this important decision about their futures,” said Rep. Abraham.

“I’m proud to host this event with my colleagues which gives students the chance to explore attending one of our nation’s great military academies.  For many students, Academy Day is the first step to a long and honorable career in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Merchant Marines or Coast Guard,” said Rep. Fleming.
