WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), John Barrasso (R-WY), and 89 colleagues introduced a resolution formally condemning the attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump on July 13, 2024. The resolution also honors Corey Comperatore, who died protecting his family at the rally, as well as David Dutch and James Copenhaver, who were critically injured. The resolution passed the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent.
“[T]he Senate condemns the assassination attempt of former President Donald J. Trump during a political rally… calls on the people of the United States to unite in the face of violence and to stand in solidary with those who were injured or killed during this tragic event,” stated the resolution.
